Nutraceutical developer, DolCas Biotech, LLC, announced in a recent press release that the company is growing their ingredient,
This ingredient is a next-generation warm-water fish-derived collagen hydrolysate which has an ultra-low molecular weight. Morikol was created to be able to provide benefits with low doses. These benefits include2g daily for joint health and 1g daily for inside-out skin beauty.
Morikol offers bio-active tripeptides GXY, which are peptide fragments that are the smallest functional unit of collagen. The press release mentions that the ingredient contains tripeptides that include metabolized amino acids, such as glycine, proline, and hydroxyproline in smaller amounts. With these tripeptides, they are the “building blocks of collagen” and are absorbed within the intestinal lining by PEPT1.
The ingredient has a proprietary enzymatic process that is able to break down small protein-chains which allows for low molecular weight peptides to be delivered in both standardized and bioactive amounts. According to the press release1, “The enzymes are subsequently deactivated, and the gelatinous material undergoes multiple stages of filtration and purification before being spray-dried into a fine, temperature-stable, water-soluble powder making it a perfect addition to the daily coffee routine.”
